How much does it cost to build a koi pond in Maryland MD | Baltimore, MD Pond Companies

This is a very common question I’m asked.  Although there isn’t a perfect answer, I will do my best to explain some basic pricing.  

When having a pond constructed, the price ranges can vary drastically.  There are so many options and styles to choose from much like buying a new car or building a new home.   If you think about buying both these items.  You have many options and enhancements to consider.

What does it really cost?

A basic 8′ x 10′ pond with a small waterfall starts at $8500.  This is for a brand new pond with rocks, gravel, and mechanical & biological filtration.  A complete functioning and beautiful pond.   As with many things in life, there are lots of features you can add that raise the cost. 

Some of the most popular features Baltimore area homeowners add to their ponds are, LED lighting, streams and waterfalls, fish caves, stone paths, and stone patios.  Not all of these features need to be included when the pond is constructed and can be added later.     

      Here’s an example of a pond with ‘all the bells whistles’.  The photo above shows a basic 8′ x 10′ pond with almost every possible option bringing the cost of the pond to almost $15000.  This pond owner added extra LED lighting, larger boulders, stone steps, stone pathways, fish caves, extra long stream, marginal plantings, aquatic plants, and etc. 

You get what you pay for…
